The journey begins in Žagarė, one of Lithuania’s oldest towns, where medieval trade routes once crossed. The route departs through cherry orchards — Žagarė is famous for its cherries — before entering open agricultural land. The path follows country roads and field tracks southward, passing small villages and roadside crosses typical of northern Lithuania. The stage finishes at the small village of Buivydžiai, where overnight accommodation is available at a local homestead.
The route is well-marked with yellow arrows and scallop shell signs throughout. Carry water as shops are scarce after leaving Žagarė.
